a494 Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about senior picture sessions with Edge Photography.

I’d like to book a senior session…how do I do that?
Great! Send me an email via the contact page and we’ll set up a date and time.

What should I wear for my senior pictures?
I want you to look like yourself! So wear something that represents you and your style. That being said, I do have a few general guidelines for selecting the outfits for your session:
1. It’s about you: Your senior pictures are all about you, not your clothes, so I recommend wearing something that doesn’t distract from the subject (you!). I generally recommend that you stay away from “loud” colors, patterns, logos, writing, pictures, etc.
2. Color: warm or cool & pastels and earthy colors are best. Pastels generally look better in the Spring and earthy colors are perfect for Fall. Wear something that compliments your skin tone, if you are extremely fair, it may be a good idea to avoid really dark colors.
3. Consider Black & White:  If you want some exceptional B&W images from your session, consider how your clothes will render in B&W. If you wear solid black or solid white clothing, you tend to loose a little detail in the B&W images.
4. Accessories/Jewelry: I love accessories in photos! They give you something to play with and they give you character and make your photos unique.
5. Glasses: In general, I don’t recommend wearing your glasses in photos because of the unavoidable glare. But this is a personal choice you will need to make.  If you’re rarely seen without your glasses, consider popping out the lenses to get the look of glasses but avoid the lens glare.
6.  Makeup, Hair, Nails: I strongly urge my female clients to at least consider having their makeup professionally done. If having your hair professionally done makes you feel more beautiful, by all means have your hair done! Also consider how your nails will look. While you may not choose to go get a manicure before your session, be sure you’re happy with how your nails look (avoid chipped polish).

Also remember that it’s okay to break these rules as long as you are aware that you’re breaking them, so if you have something in mind that you would love to wear… to heck with me and my rules! Have some fun! (:

Can I bring props?
Absolutely! Well-thought-out props can add a lot to your session, especially if you’re considering a theme
session. Props can be small things like sunglasses, sports gear or ballet shoes or larger things like chairs, instruments or even a vehicle!

Do you offer studio sessions?
Yes, but typically most of my photo shoots are done on location in natural lighting.

What does ‘on location’ mean?
This simply means that we choose the location of your session together based on your style and personality. You can come to our barn, we can go downtown, to the park, to the gardens, or even to your own home or neighborhood. The possibilities are endless.

How long will it take to process my photos after my session?
Three weeks or less.

How many images will I get to see?
custom process images, which means you don’t receive an image for every time you hear my shutter click during our session. I choose quality over quantity. I select the top 30 or so images from your session and spend about 6 hours custom editing those images. I also include a handful of black and white variations of some of the images. Each one of the images you see in your viewing and ordering session has been processed with the utmost care and attention to detail.

How do I view and order my photos after they are processed?
Once your photos are processed, I will give you a digital CD with all your images to print wherever you wish.  However, for your enlargements and wallets I highly recommend ordering from my web-site.  They are done by a professional photo lab and guaranteed photos that will last a lifetime and not fade.

Do you have a print order minimum?
No, I do not have an order minimum.

What does “custom photography” mean?
To me, ‘custom photography’ means so many things! For starters, it means that each individual session is tailored toward my client for that session. It means that I go on-location, I spend time communicating with clients and answering emails, etc.  I offer high-quality prints and products. I strive to provide exceptional customer service and a memorable experience. I work an average of 12-14 hours per senior client from the initial contact to putting the prints in your hand.
